Sylvia Gaffney, Ph.D.

President

Sylvia Gaffney, Ph.D. is president and owner of Gaffney Corporate Strategies providing custom-designed consulting services in organizational effectiveness and change management programs to companies on a national and international basis.

Sylvia has facilitated workshops, consulted with and implemented programs for large and small corporations in integrated business planning focusing on strategy, structure, systems, staffing and stakeholders. She facilitates sessions in team building and blending, leadership development, intergenerational challenges, cultural change issues, resilience, retention, recruitment, job compatibility, and employee morale. She has conducted orientation programs, exit interviews, and 360 feedback processes. She provides executive and life coaching. Sylvia has developed a Role Criticality Process (RCP) to guide companies in systemic retention and succession planning initiatives. She has created custom-designed training programs and internal career development processes (ICDP).

Sylvia was a Fellow in the Workforce Stability Institute, a national organization focusing on retention and recruitment issues. Sylvia has been a contributing author to the Institute's book on Workforce Stability and its national newsletters. Sylvia authored a handbook for the Associated Press Managing Editors (APME) called Talking With Your Town and conducts credibility conversations with newspapers and their readers.

Sylvia owned and operated a successful staffing company along with a computer training school and Outplacement firm for over 15 years.

She is a charter member of the Association of Career Management Professionals International (ACP), and has her Fellow in the Outplacement Institute. She has been a presenter at Association meetings, and has authored a career development book titled Careerpreneur.

Sylvia's other professional memberships are: Organization Development Network, World Future Society, and the Global Resiliency Network.

Sylvia has her Ph.D. in Organizational Systems and Behavior (OS) from Saybrook in San Francisco, and a Masters Degree in Organization Development from Pepperdine University (MSOD). She also has Masters Degrees in Curriculum Design and a type 75 in Educational Administration.

Over the years, Sylvia has been honored with the national Athena Award, the Business Leader of the Year Award, and Dare to be Great Award. She served as Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce, and a Board member of The Council of 100. She has served for over ten years on a regional bank Board of Directors and as a Board member on a hospital Advisory Board.
